What does an esthetician do? Estheticians specialize in skin beautification. An Esthetician job description includes a variety of tasks. They provide skincare treatments to the face and body to improve in individuals appearance. They may also be called Aestheticians, Skin Care Specialists, Skin Care Therapists,
Spa Technicians, Facialists, or Skin
Care Technicians. Their job duties may include:
- facials including peels and masks
- full-body
treatments
- head and neck massages
- deep pre cleansing and facial massage
- body wraps
- various skin care treatments with creams, lotions and tonics
- applying makeup
- hair removal via waxing, electrolysis or laser
treatments
- eyelash and eyebrow tinting and extensions
- aromatherapy
- permanent makeup
- makeup application
- keeping patient records
- sterilize equipment and clean work areas
A Medical Esthetician job description is a bit different. A Medical Esthetician has additional training and works with patients
whose skin or appearance is affected by accidents, trauma or medical
procedures. Medical estheticians work in the health care industry with plastic surgeons or
other medical professionals to help people cope with facial reconstructive surgeries or similar
medical procedures.
Estheticians work in salon, spas,hotels, resorts or their own business. They typically work 40 hour weeks, but schedules can be variable and include nights and weekends.
